Gunnison Church, Crested Butte, Colorado – Jan 10th started, completed 23rd Jan’25

Here’s a watercolour, Gunnison Church’ in Colorado. It is inspired by memories of long road trip we enjoyed whilst living in the States, one of our overnight stays being this little ski town of Crested Butte. I was going to make it another wintery, snow scene, however, in view of our chilly weather at the moment I stuck to a warmer season.

It is 10” x 16” without the border, and painted on my original favourite Canson CP Paper, a block, which is rather difficult to obtain now. I used a limited palette which started out as a triad, with the addition of two other pigments as the painting progressed. Another fun challenge and learning curve which is not quite as envisioned. Nevertheless, a happy painting for me to grow from.
