'All Kinds of Everything' is the entry for ALIM 2024 themed, ‘A World of Colour’ and painted on an ordinary envelope. It is Derwent Inktense Pencils, which as the name suggests, does turn into ink with the addition of a water brush. I had some fun with this, I think you’ll agree, even though it was painted with quite a limited palette, it is colourful.
There were over 900+ anonymously donated entries altogether only revealing the artist once a painting is sold. I was among some very famous names in the art world, plus many hobbyists like myself.
Although invited to the opening review at the start of the week, we chose to attend the following morning as the gallery again opened its doors. Apart from one other person who came for a viewing for a short time, David and I enjoyed taking time to browse through all the entries. An almost private viewing with the curator there.
A real eclectic show. One person had painted one of the artists’ taking part, the colourful, exuberant personality, Zandra Rhodes, adorned with her pink hair. Showing that octogenarians are not too old to paint, nor indeed, is anyone younger or older. Grandma Moses from USA only started when 80yrs.
There’s hope for me yet, a late starter! And, how about you too?
