'The Beginning of the End'
Cherries and Materials in mixed media

Here is the final project within the Draw Awesome course which I’ve named ‘The Beginning of the End,’ or Cherries with materials. It’s amazing how fast this year has passed. I am honoured and privileged to have been on this drawing journey learning more of the various mediums available to artists along with some techniques new to me.

It is a real blessing to have been part of this journey with Phil and Bob and I thoroughly recommend the course to anyone wanting to have a go and surprise themselves at what is achievable with good tutors. And yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks!

The grey toned paper used measures 22.9cm x 32.5cm and is a mixed media work. This is not something I have done a lot of, preferring to concentrate on watercolours, pastels, oils on their own. And yet, I can see the merit of using the different pencils, pens, and charcoal now. Charcoal is missing in this work however, it is a medium I would like to explore more along with my soft pastels, not just pastel pencils.

We have covered such a lot in a relatively short time and I am always thankful to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus for granting me the stickability, stamina and discipline to complete within the year. Phil’s motivation and inspiration guaranteed it for me.

One last challenge awaits which is open-ended, any subject in any medium. Watch this space!

Please note, the link to Draw Awesome can be found under the links section, along with various other interesting and informative links. Why not check it out?
